The battery life of 28.2 hours for audio and 6.5 hours for video is plenty impressive. We make that £30 cheaper which is a lot when you're looking relatively at the total cost of these lower-end players. Across genres, we were greeted with clear, solid sound. ![]() The Fuze powered through with reasonable-though not super thumping-bass response nice, rich mids with smooth vocals and an impressive amount of high-end detail. We tested it out with the Shure E310 earphones and the Creative Aurvana Live headphones and were not disappointed in either case. It also wasn't quite as encompassing as the sound coming from the Creative Zen V Plus-but it comes close. Let's be frank: the Sansa Fuze doesn't offer the sparklingly stellar audio quality presented by the likes of the Sony NWZ-A810 or the Samsung P2. If that still doesn't provide enough music for you, there's an FM tuner with autoscan and presets, or you can record your own beautiful voice via the built-in mic. It accepts high-capacity cards, which are available at up to 12GB as of press time. On either side of the Fuze, you'll find a power/hold switch and a microSD card slot for adding more memory. The only one that does not is the proprietary syncing port built into the bottom of the device-we'd much prefer it if SanDisk stuck to mini USB. The Fuze offers a few other attributes of note, most of which add value to the player. If you hear a song that you like playing on a channel, pressing down on the scroll wheel brings up the contextual menu where you can rate it and/or add it to your library. The player operates on the Rhapsody DNA platform, so it supports not only subscription content from the service, but also Rhapsody Channels, which are essentially Internet radio on the go. On the audio side, the Fuze offers support for MP3, WMA, secure WMA, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, WAV, Audible, and Overdrive. If you still choose to add this type of media to the player, make sure it is in JPEG or MPEG4 SP format to ensure hassle-free playback. At 1.9 inches, the Fuze's screen isn't exactly optimal video viewing anyway, so this isn't too big of a deal. This dulling shadow also affects photos and videos, slightly diminishing the overall quality of viewing. Still, this is a minor gripe, and part of the problem is actually caused by the screen's protective coating, which casts a grainy shadow on the LCD. And yet, as with other Sansa models we've come across, the inner menus are dull, and while we appreciate the option to at least change the wallpaper color, we'd love to be able to set a favorite photo as a backdrop or otherwise tweak the look-and-feel to our personal preferences. The icon-driven main menu is nice enough to look at, and the device is very easy to navigate, with music organized into playlist, artist, album, and so on. This observation in quality unfortunately does not extend to the Fuze's interface. It seems more durable and high-quality than early Sansa models. ![]() But the build is more like that of the View, with a clickable scroll wheel, a shiny, plastic face and smooth, metal backside-the Fuze definitely has a solid, weighty feel to it. At 3.1 inches by 1.8 inches by 0.3 inch, the Fuze is only a bit bigger than the Clip overall, and it comes in the same color options: black (2GB, 4GB) blue, pink, and red (all 4GB) and silver (8GB). SanDisk thought up the perfect name for the Fuze, because the player really resembles a Sansa Clip and a Sansa View blended together. Sure, it's a bit of a Nano clone, but it also sounds good, offers plentiful features, and is cheap as all get-out-just $80, $100, and $130 for the 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB models, respectively. Such is the case with the Sansa Fuze, a slim device with a high-quality feel and several shiny color options. While cheap pricing has made SanDisk a real contender in the portable audio space, the company is not content to rest on that fact alone to draw new customers, persistently tweaking its new offerings in an attempt to make them better. SanDisk continues to add to its line of Sansa MP3 players, which has been attractive to consumers from the start thanks to the low price point at which the company can list its players. Open Media Framework (OMF) or Open Media Framework Interchange (OMFI) is a platform-independent file format intended for the transfer of digital media between different software applications.Īs we have described above, AAF (and OMF) are used to transfer sequence/timeline information from one application to another. What is the difference between the OMF and AAF formats? It provides for application program interfaces (APIs). It encapsulates HTML and XML content, includes translators, and supports HTML/XML output. It provides a way to “wrap” elements of a project together for archiving. It catalogues an extensive list of audio and video effects with a rich set of built-in standard effects. It allows the combined project in a selected format to be rendered later in the post process. It allows access to networked content files on remote platforms or storage. It allows users to track the history of pieces of program content from source elements through final production. It facilitates the cross-platform interchange of metadata or program content. This allows the content to be described as a media object. The AAF solution has several components: It supports the complex combination of a piece of content and its associated metadata. the AAF format is designed to replace OMFI. For example, a file might contain a 30-minute sequence along with instructions on how to cut it down to 5 minutes … along with an external reference to text reports or still photographs located on a separate system. I don’t remember any other dialogue or character interactions. When I think about the plot, I don’t remember much besides the old tales of kidnapped girls. I want to see the location that the game designers made, with color and light! I also think games with only dark/night settings leave something to be desired (oddly, I don’t feel the opposite way about games that only take place during daytime). The only area I really remember is the gift shop. Much of the castle feels unexplorable as well when compared to the TRT and CUR castles. Huge areas that feel they should be explorable but it’s just a tease. That said, the game always feels kind of empty to me, like why are there big areas (courtyard, balcony with doors/rooms) if the player can’t explore them? I feel this way about VEN as well. The game does a good job of building suspense. I do think the castle design is cool and the monster is pretty scary. Except for Lukas, but I don’t usually like “kid characters” in games so maybe that’s just me. It commits the age-old ND game sin of having accents so bad it makes the dialogue irritating to listen to, though I don’t dislike the characters. I don’t think it’s a bad game, but it ranks low in replayability for me! I’ve only played it twice. ![]() You do find a piece of glass here so I wonder if the initial plan was to have Nancy make that piece of glass but ran out of time. Was I the only one surprised that you didn't have to make any glass? When I read the book in the gift shop and saw the furnace room I was sure there would be some glass-making in my future, and wondered how on earth they were going to justify Nancy needing to make glass. And I had traumatic flashbacks to all the times my son attempted to explain to me how to play Pokemon. Raid wasn't awful but it takes forever for just one game. I wish they made it more clear that they were optional. The downside is that I hate the two minigames. I loved the atmosphere, loved getting the monster broadcast events and chasing them down, loved the characters even the culprit. But once that was behind me I ended up really enjoying the game. I really love this game! I was super annoyed at the beginning of the game because my MO is to talk to all characters and exhaust all dialogue options before I do any investigations, and there is SO MUCH dialogue at the very beginning (a lot of it quite repetitive). So here’s to CAP! An ND game that doesn’t get love nearly as much as it should! It’s just such a fun loving feel good have a few tiny scares but also some heart warming moments kind of game, and I don’t feel like it gets appreciated enough because games like that don’t come around every day. If anything, it just adds to the absolute insanity of this game. ![]() There are so many plot holes in this game, we could probably make an entire thread about it, but honestly I don’t care. I actually love calling him throughout the game. I know some people find Karl annoying but I think he’s charming and I feel for the guy because it seems like he just wants to make board games and live his life without trouble. I literally want to adopt him because he’s so adorable. The characters in this game are brilliant, especially Lukas. Would this be in my top 5 ND games? Hmm probably not, but do I enjoy every second playing this ridiculous far fetched German fever dream? HELL YES. However, I feel like it’s not talked enough about how FUN this game is. It seems most people like this game well enough, and there doesn’t seem to be too many strong opinions on it. So usually when I see game rankings and whatnot, CAP is usually somewhere in the middle.
